CAPE TOWN- South Africa has recorded 173 more Covid-19 related deaths, bringing the total to8 539, while cases now stand at 516 862, an increase of 5 377.
Of the latest deaths 20 are from the Eastern Cape, 37 from Gauteng, 12 from KwaZulu-Natal, 31 from the Western Cape, 28 from the North West and 45 from Mpumalaga.
Health minister Zweli Mkhize said the number of recoveries is 358 037, which translates to a recovery rate of 69%.
