Candles(requires parental supervision)

Since we live in South Africa, we often encounter loadshedding. These cute candles will be fun to make with your children and to store away when loadshedding strikes the country again or to give away as gifts.

Materials:

• Wax / Old Candles / Broken Wax Crayons

• Candle Wicks

• Container / Silicone Mould

• Essential Oils (optional for fragrance)

• Food Colouring and Decor

• Pot to melt the wax

If you are using old wax crayons sort them by colour before melting them. Add the wax into a pot and melt the wax on medium heat for 10 minutes. Place the wick in the centre of the mould or container that the candle will take the shape of and stick it in place with a drop of melted wax. Add some of the décor, food colouring and oils to the melted wax. Remove the pot from the stove and pour the wax into the container or mould. Let the wax set and cut the wick to an appropriate size.
