CAPE TOWN –

The global pandemic has not only closed businesses and increased the country’s death, but it has also highlighted the much-needed work that needs to be done and more importantly, it has brought people together.

In various townships and Cape Flats communities, residents took it upon themselves to stop starvation and help those who are in desperate need of help.

Joanie Fredericks from Tafelsig CAN who is one of the organisers of the video message to the president on behalf of thousands of food activists said the situation is beyond serious and that they’re in need of attention from the leader of South Africa.

“Your people did visit and promised to help. No help has arrived yet Mr President,” said Fredericks.

“Father of our Nation, our President. The reality is that sponsors are no longer able to help and we are battling to feed our communities. The crisis is deepening Mr President and without real intervention, it could become a catastrophe,” she wrote.
