CAPE TOWN -

While there has been urgency globally for a Covid-19 vaccine with various trials taking place across the globe, experts are saying that a safely tested vaccine can be expected in 2021.

"There is a vaccine out already in Russia but nobody in the West wants to use it.

“Nobody really trusts it and there’s a lot of questions around the testing protocols that they used,” said General Practitioner, Dr Mark Holliday.

Meanwhile, Professor Barry Schoub said that there is a tremendous amount of pressure to get a vaccine out and that under normal circumstances, evaluation of a candidate vaccine could take from five up to 10 years.

However, the Coronavirus has accounted for economic loss, thousands of deaths and has disrupted fights against other healthcare issues.
