Post Covid-19 recovery: Jobs are top priority

CAPE TOWN -

With the countless business closures and loss of jobs due to the Coronavirus global pandemic, the Western Cape government has been looking at job creation opportunities post Covid-19.

“The hard lockdown has had a significant impact on businesses of all sizes across the Western Cape. This has resulted in significant job losses, which mean that many households have been left without a breadwinner, and the ability to put food on the table,” said Western Cape Premier Alan Winde.

“During our discussions, we had several business people discuss the challenges they currently face. The discussion was open and honest, which I value.

“It is important for us to hear all perspectives so that we can incorporate these experiences and feedback into our plans,” he said.

Winde added that despite the positive signs and decline in infection numbers in the province, a combined effort is still required in responding to the pandemic and the new challenges which it presents.
