CAPE TOWN- South Africa now has 161 Covid-19 related deaths, with eight more recorded today, and 8232 infections, an increase of 424.
Health minister Zweli Mkhize made the announcement at the Ithuba offices in Sandton, where he had accepted a donation of protective gear for healthcare workers.
“In the Western Cape, we are seeing cluster outbreaks, or hotspots. We have to find ways of going into these hotspots. We will be seeing what we can do additionally in the Western Cape,” said Mkhize.
Six of the latest deaths were recorded in the Western Cape and two from KwaZulu-Natal.

- KwaZulu-Natal- 1204
- Eastern Cape- 929
- Free State- 134
- Mpumalanga- 59
- Limpopo- 41

- Northern Cape- 27
