Bulls takes part in the #RugbyUnites charity challenge

CAPE TOWN – The Vodacom Bulls are the most recent rugby team to take part in the #RugbyUnite charity challenge in Pretoria over the weekend.

Following the successful efforts across the country with many rugby union players and teams taking part, the Vodacom Bulls are the latest to join the #RugbyUnites charity challenge started by South African Rugby Legends Association’s (SARLA).

Bulls Family team members, Rugby Legends and representatives from Cell C visited Spar Menlyn Maine Central Square in Pretoria to personally shop and pack food parcels for Lizo Gqoboka Foundation as the nominated charity to receive the donations.

The creator of the #RugbyUnites charity challenge and SARLA President and CEO of Richmark Holdings, Gavin Varejes said, “As the COVID-19 crisis escalates, I’m very proud to see the major rugby unions embracing this challenge. People really need it right now. Hunger is a problem that is affecting every corner of our country. It’s a pervasive issue that is escalating fast and we need to tackle it urgently. Thank you to the Bulls for pitching in. Their efforts made a huge difference.”

Elton Jantjies, Lions rugby captain, had also taken part on Saturday giving a helping hand alongside Bulls player, Trevor Nyakane, who said, “Hunger is a problem that is closer to home than it has ever been. We can’t just stand by and let our people starve. It is up to those of us who have the resources to make a difference. The Vodacom Bulls are proud to be a part of the Rugby Unites initiative and we encourage the rest of South Africa to do what they can for food security in this difficult time.”
