CAPE TOWN - Coronavirus infections in South Africa have increased by 34 to 274, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize announced late on Sunday.
Earlier President Cyril Ramaphosa was meant to address the nation on decisions and measures taken by the National Command Council to curb the pandemic but postponed his address to Monday.
Ramaphosa met with business representatives, faith leaders and political parties as part of ongoing consultations about governments response to the Coronavirus.
The latest cases are as follows :
Gauteng - 132 infections
KZN - 36 infections
Eastern Cape - 2 infections
Western Cape - 88 infections
Free State - 9 infections
Mpumalanga - 6 infections
Limpopo - 1 infection
On Friday, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said projections showed that up to 70 percent of the population could be affected by the Coronavirus outbreak.
"Our main priority is to slow the rate of infection so that our health system does not become overwhelmed," said Mkhize.
South Africa has not registered any deaths due to the Coronavirus since its first infection two weeks ago.
