South Africans have been raging on social media with the banning of cigarettes during the national lockdown, leaving locals to find alternative methods to get their fix.
A recent survey done by technology company M4Jam who surveyed 2 000 regular smokers, found that almost half have stopped smoking due to the ban.
Part of the reason for quitting smoking is also cost with smokers having to pay at least R50 more per pack.

While nine percent of smokers have cut down to four cigarettes per day, desperate smokers have turned to smoke rooibos leaves.
The survey found that most lockdown smokers have also changed brands with almost 60 percent purchasing from “back-door” suppliers.
