CAPE TOWN –President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the lifting of the red list which allows travelers from high-risk countries to enter the country.
With the easing of lockdown rules and the summer season quickly approaching, the President urged South Africans to continue to use the safety rules to prevent a resurgence.
“By utilising rapid tests and strict monitoring, we intend to limit the spread of the infection through importation by those who will be travelling to our country,” said Ramaphosa.
Meanwhile, the Western Cape Premier Alan Winde shared his enthusiasm for the amended travel rules as it will boost their tourism campaign and expand it to the major markets.
“These announcements will go a long way towards supporting our efforts to save jobs in the Western Cape, where the tourism and hospitality sectors are major job creators.
“The Western Cape Government continues to work around the clock, using our hotspot management system to closely monitor, track and respond to infections in the province,” said Winde.
