DURBAN - For some employees, working from home is a dream while others prefer the routine of going into the office. Due to the rapid spread of the Covid-19 virus, many companies have allowed their staff to work from home.

This virus has shaken the world, as we know it, challenging people to reconsider what is deemed "normal".

Twitter chief executive Jack Dorsey has informed his employees that they will be able to continue to work from home, indefinitely. An email from the executive sent out to employees on Tuesday, May 12, stating that they were allowed to work from home even after the Covid-19 pandemic. Those who wish to work within a traditional office environment will have the option to do so, once the offices are reopened.

Dorsey said: "When we do decide to open offices, it also won't be a snap back to the way it was before. It will be careful, intentional, office by office and gradual. Our concentration in San Francisco is not serving us any longer and we will strive to be a far more distributed workforce, which we will use to improve our execution.”

Online media BuzzFeed News quoted a Twitter spokesperson saying: “We've been very thoughtful in how we've approached this from the time we were one of the first companies to move to a work-from-home model. We'll continue to be, and we'll continue to put the safety of our people and communities first.”
