CAPE TOWN -

Grade 12 could be considered one of the more significant events in a person's life, and this year's matriculants need to dig deep in order to get through it.

Over a million candidates are expected to write their final matric exams, making it the largest public exam ever administered in South Africa.

Clinical psychologist, Shareeka Angamia, says that maintaining good mental health will be critical for students during this period.

“Students are going to have to develop resilience by looking after both our physical and mental health.

“This means incorporating exercise into your routine, getting good nutrition and adequate sleep,” said Angamia.

She added that students must not forget to take a break and practice affirmations to boost their self-esteem.
