CAPE TOWN -

Western Cape tourism and trade company, Wesgro, and Wines of South Africa (WOSA) teamed up to launch the Cape Export Network (CEN) to help connect local wine producers to the international market.

CEN is a digital matchmaking platform where wine producers can advertise their products to importers who are looking to fill their portfolios in a fast and secure manner.

“South African wines are internationally renowned, but there is no doubt that the Covid-19 pandemic has had a severe impact on wine exports,” said Western Cape Minister of Finance David Maynier.

“We welcome the launch of the Cape Export Network as an initiative to support and rebuild the industry.

“The platform also creates an exciting opportunity for new and emerging wine producers to be discovered by importers so that more people around the world can taste the finest wines that we have to offer in the Western Cape,” he said.

Producers that have never exported before will be guided by mentors to become export-ready and meet the needs of global importers of wine.

Meanwhile, international importers entering the local market for the first time can gain more knowledge and history of South African products through the Wines of South Africa Online Wine Course.
