CAPE TOWN -

Western Cape Premier Alan Winde believes the province has done enough to move onto the next lockdown level and allow the economy to open up even further.

During a digital press conference, Winde said his team will continue with their hotspot strategy and that residents should support local businesses following the various business closures.

“We’ve divided the province up with teams, making sure that we continue to flatten the curve with our hotspot strategy. We also need to get out there to stop another disaster and support local businesses,” said Winde.

“We all feel so much more relaxed because we can see the curve coming down, the flattening of the curve and the extra space in our hospitals.

“This helps us with our case in saying we now need to move onto the next level, we need to make sure we’re opening up our economy even further.

“We need to make sure that we can reduce these lockdown levels so that we can enable this environment, bearing in mind that our behaviour is managed by our response to wearing masks and social distancing,” he said.
