Tips to keep kids busy during Covid-19 isolation

South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa declared Covid-19 national disaster and closed schools until after the Easter weekend.

Amidst all the panic buying, fake voice note messages and adapting to working remotely, parents now need to come up with ways to keep their kids safe and busy at home. While Netflix and gaming seem like a great idea to keep kids out of your hair for the day, know that there are alternatives.

We’ve put together five ways to keep your children busy during this break:

  1. Arts and Crafts                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   A great way for kids of all ages to get their creative juices flowing.
  2. Gardening                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  While the sun is out, this is great to get some fresh air and teach your kids about the importance of agriculture.
  3. Cooking class                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          There’s no need for a professional cook to give this class, all you need is the ingredients to their favorite quick meal and teach them to make it themselves.
  4. Free play outside                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Free play is still important and there are various games they can play outdoors from skateboarding, riding bicycles to kicking around a soccer ball.
  5. Virtual learning / Coding                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        There are plenty of virtual learning and coding classes for kids online, now is a good time to introduce them to another sector in the digital world
