CAPE TOWN- Over 1 million Covid-19 tests have been conducted in South Africa by technicians and pathologists from the National Health Laboratory Service and private laboratories.
Health minister Zweli Mkhize made the announcement on Thursday and also updated the country on the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases, which now stands at 58 568, an increase of 3 147.
“We have reached a milestone in testing, 1 028 399 tests have been conducted,” said Mkhize.
The total recoveries to date are 33 252, which translates to a recovery rate of 56.8%.
Mkhize will later this evening update the country on the number of deaths recorded.
