Music For Meals: Africa's virtual concert that helps fight hunger

CAPE TOWN - UCOOK looks to host one of Africa's biggest virtual concert in hopes to fight hunger.

As the Covid-19 pandemic continues, the strain put on those less fortunate prevails with many continuing to seek assistance just to receive their basic needs.

UCOOK, a South African innovative meal-kit and cooking business, in partnership with luxury boutique hotel Ellerman House, and South African data provider, Rain, aims to host one of Africa's biggest virtual concerts aiming to feed those in need with their 'Music for Meals' later this month.

The "biggest at-home concert from your couch" will be featuring a list of international and local artists with UCOOK taking to Facebook to share their line-up with 13 top musical performances featuring artists like Dave Matthews, Lira, The Parlotones, Prime Circle, the Ndlovu Youth Choir and more.

UCOOK CEO David Torr says, "Following the success of the UCOOK Food Fund, launched during the lockdown, it’s important for us to continue supporting our community and those feeling the effects of Covid-19, as well as raising awareness around hunger.

"Proceeds are going to short-term and long-term feeding schemes, including investments in small-scale farming for a more sustainable future."

Music for Meals will take place at 7pm on October 30, with tickets sold on Computicket for R80 each with all proceeds collected through ticket sales and donations provided to the numerous beneficiaries to help fight hunger in South Africa.
