DURBAN – Different restaurants around the world have adapted and introduced different measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
While some restaurants have introduced temperature monitoring systems to inform customers about their staff’s body temperature, others introduced dividers to keep people safe using physical distancing.
Mediamatic Eten, a vegan restaurant at the Mediamatic Biotoop, an art centre in Amsterdam is introducing glass greenhouses for their customers to sit in. The greenhouse concept will involve waiting staff providing customers with their order on long wooden boards, so there will be no physical contact. Waiting staff will also be wear protective gear like transparent face shields and gloves.
The restaurant is currently waiting for permission from the Netherlands government. The greenhouses are fully booked and if the restaurant is not given permission to use the greenhouses, then customers will be refunded.
Willem Velthoven, director of the art centre said: “Being together in large groups will probably be out of fashion for a while, but still, coming in a social situation and really enjoying things together is something that we long for even more.”
