CAPE TOWN- The South African Health department has recommended the making and the use of cloth face masks to help contain the spread of the coronavirus.

This is not the first time Health minister Zweli Mkhize has advised the public to wear masks. Last week Friday at a media briefing he said the purpose of a mask is to reduce droplets that come out of the mouth or nose during speaking, coughing and sneezing.

Mkhize's latest emphasis on the wearing of the masks came during a live zoom public engagement on Monday night which dealt with technical aspects relating to COVID-19 response.
