Covid-19 cases at 589 886, deaths at 11 982

CAPE TOWN -South Africa has recorded 143 more Covid-19 related deaths, bringing the total number of deaths to 11 982, while cases are 589 886, an increase of 2 541.

Of the latest fatalities, 50 are from the Eastern Cape, five in the Free State, 14 from Gauteng, 14 from KwaZulu-Natal and 32 from the Western Cape.

Health minister Zweli Mkhize said the total number of recoveries is 477 671, which translates to a recovery rate of 80%.
