CAPE TOWN – The Covid-19 pandemic continues to grip South Africa with fears of an exponential rise in infections. As a result President Cyril Ramaphosa authorised a 21-day National lockdown from Thursday in an attempt to slow the infection rate and transmission of the virus.
These are the numbers so far ;
– Total number of infections – 1170
– Total number of deaths – 1
– Total number of tests conducted – 28 537
– Total number of patients in hospitals (both public and private) : 55
– Total number of patients in ICU : 4
– Total number of patients in ventilation : 3
– Total number of recoveries : 31
– Contacts of the patients that have been identified : 4 407
– Contacts of the patients that have been traced : 3 465
