#dinspiration for this evening… #proudlysa Homemade Mutton Curry Bunny …. fresh unsliced bread filled with spicy tender lamb curry , soft potatoes …. served with carrot onion salad …😊😊 "Bunny chow, often referred to as a bunny, is a South African fast food dish consisting of a hollowed out loaf of bread filled with curry. It originated in Durban South African community." These were absolutely delicious …😉 Are u a fan of the 'bunnychow'? Have a lovely evening ….⚘⚘ Will share the recipe a bit later ⚘ Lamb Curry : @treetz_by_reez 1 kg lamb pieces (shoulder) washed and strained . (I soaked mine in vinegar and water . Removed all the fat and cut in pieces) 1 big onion 1 big tomato 1 small tin tomato paste 2 T red ginger garlic masala 2 t red chilli powder Half t turmeric powder Salt to taste 2 t Dhana jeeru Sprinkle of jeeru seeds 2 cinnamon sticks 2 cardamom pods Few pepper corns 2 green chilli 3 potatoes Half cup oil or ghee Method Saute the onion in ghee with the cinnamon stick, elachi , peppercorns , green chilli and jeeru Once light and golden add the meat along with the ginger garlic, salt and turmeric. Mix well and leave on low . Allow to cook(about an hour plus). If you need to add water add 1/4 cup at a time. Not too much . Once the meat is feeling soft add the tomatoes , tomato paste and spices . Allow to cook . At this stage the meat should be almost fully cooked . Allow this to start sticking to the pot . Once you notice that add the potatoes . Top with about 1 cup water and leave to cook. Once the potatoes are starting to cook add in little water for gravy , chopped coriander and leave on low till well done . So for the bunny I used 1/4 loaf of fresh unsliced bread , made a hollow and filled with the curry. Then topped with a carrot onion salad …enjoy 🌹🌹 #bunnychow #proudlysouthafrican #bunny #durbanbunnychow #eeeeeats #tophomecooking #bbcgoodfoood#foodblogger #instaeatssouthafrica #muttoncurry #muttonbunny #FOODIESOFSA #foodandhomesa #instakitchen #deliciously_sa #feedfeed#recipes #foodography #photography #foodie #foodflatlay #flatlay #inmykitchen#f52grams #blogger #blog #foodblog

B O B O T I E 🇿🇦 If you haven’t heard of it, this is a curried mince dish with a creamy egg topping, usually served with yellow rice with cardamom, cinnamon and butter. It’s the national dish of South Africa, where my dad grew up, and we always have this when we go back to visit family 🥳🍛
Braai (Shisa nyama)
An authentic braai or shisa nyama can be done anywhere and at any time. Various communities get together on weekends for a braai and some butchers grill their meat in front of their shops and sell it on the street.
