Travel: WC wins big at World Travel Awards

CAPE TOWN –The Western Cape won numerous awards at the World Travel Awards (WTA) with the City of Cape Town scooping Africa’s Leading Festival destination ahead of the busy summer season.

Cape Town International Airport was awarded Africa’s Leading Airport for the fourth consecutive year, with Table Mountain earning Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction.

“Considering that the World Travel Awards are the most prestigious, comprehensive and sought-after awards programme in the global travel and tourism industry, receiving these awards is welcome recognition of the continued excellence we offer visitors,” said Western Cape Minister of Finance and Economic Opportunities, David Maynier.

“The upcoming summer season will be an important period for our tourism and travel sector as we seek to rebuild our economy and save jobs in the Western Cape,” he said.
