CAPE TOWN- Lady Gaga was the big winner at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards, but her fabulous face masks were what really stole the show.
The awards took place on Sunday in audience-less locations around New York City to adhere to Covid-19 social distancing guidelines.
The 34-year-old artist bagged five awards on the night and had nine outfit changes throughout the two-hour event.
Lady Gaga won:
- Artists of the year
- Song of the year- Lady Gaga with Ariana Grande – “Rain On Me”
- Best Collaboration
- Best Cinematography
- The A Star Is Born actress also won the show’s inaugural “Tricon Award,” which recognises an artist who is highly accomplished across three or more disciplines.
MTV dedicated this year’s Awards show to the late Chadwick Boseman, the “Black Panther” star, whose death last week at age 43 shocked fans around the world.
The event’s host Keke Palmer called Boseman “an actor whose talent and passion is a true inspiration to all the fans he touched, and everyone he encountered”.
