CAPE TOWN- South Africa now has 1380 confirmed Covid-19 cases, an increase of 27 confirmed cases.
Health minister Zweli Mkhize made the announcement during a media briefing at the National Health Laboratory Service Head Office in Sandringham, Gauteng.
67 Coronavirus mobile sampling and testing units were launched earlier on Wednesday. The units contain specialized equipment and are set to be deployed nationwide to all districts and metropolitan municipalities.
Mkhize said that over the past few days there has been a “slower increase” of positive cases. He attributes the “slower increase” to the 21-day lockdown which has lowered internal transmissions, the closing of borders and enforcing quarantine for inbound travellers.
