Covid-19 infections now at 1326, 3 deaths – Ramaphosa

CAPE TOWN- South Africa now has 1326 confirmed Covid-19 cases – with an additional death in the past 24 hours, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced in a live television address to South Africans on Monday.

Ramaphosa said he wished to thank South Africans for their discipline but was concerned with some that are still not adhering to regulations.

“It infects the rich and poor, young and old, black and white and those who live in the cities and rural areas,”said Ramaphosa.

On Sunday, South Africa registered its second death as a result of Coronavirus. Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said the patient had a pre-existing condition that increased his risk.

“The 74 year old male had been in ICU and ventilation in a private hospital in Ladysmith. He had travelled to Kruger National Park with his family and came back with flu like symptoms. He was confirmed to be COVID-19 positive on the 27th March 2020,” said Mkhize.
